Competing in the Champions League, reaching the semi-final stages. Doing well in the Premier League. An ownership of the football club, that has borrowed heavily against its success, reliant on its continued appearance in the lucrative Champions League and on money from ever-increasing television deals to service the debts. It sounds awfully familiar. But this isn’t Liverpool Football Club in 2009. It’s Leeds United, 2001. 8 years ago. Yet it seems lessons haven’t been learnt by those who run football clubs, building them up ‘artificially through debt’.

I must admit I have never been Babel’s biggest fan. In two seasons at Anfield he has made just 57 appearances and scored only 7 goals. Not great for the player that many touted as the next Henry.

However it turns out that the real reason for Babel’s lack of form is his penchant for being down with the east-side crips, bustin hos and sippin on Cristal! According to the N.M.E, Sway has confirmed that Liverpool FC and Holland footballer Ryan Babel is to feature on his forthcoming album. The grime artist confirmed that Babel raps on one track on the LP, which is provisionally called ‘The Signature 2′.

No wonder the poor chap couldn’t score in a bucket full of fannies. He is too busy flipping his flow in NYC. Lets just hope that this season the Sick Rapper proves me wrong and nets us a few more goals.

Interesting article from Mark Lawrenson where he outlines what we all already know. We need to make some changes up front if we are going to be able to cope with the loss of Xabi and so far it doesnt look like this is going to happen!

Get the Yanks out and make sure the club stays in the right hands, the fans!

SHARELIVERPOOLFC MAKE REVISED PROPOSAL
FOR FAN BUY OUT, SUPPORTED BY SPIRIT OF SHANKLY

On the deadline day for the American owners of Liverpool FC to complete the refinancing of the debt they took on to buy and run the Club, the two key supporters’ groups, ShareLiverpoolFC (SLFC) and Spirit of Shankly (SoS) unveiled a revised fan buy-out plan for consideration by the banks and the owners. Though it is expected that RBS & Wachovia will extend the credit line to the current owners, in the view of the fans, this is only a short term (and expensive) fix for LFC.

Initially SLFC looked to raise £500m from 100,000 LFC fans who would pay £5,000 for a single share. Feedback received from SLFC registrants and SoS has convinced SLFC that reducing the ‘entry fee’ from £5,000 to £500 is the best way forward, as it ensures a much broader base of fans can get involved. Subsequently, they have put together a revised proposal.
